For 15 years, Celina Park Fest (previously known as the Celina Balloon Festival) has celebrated the sights and sounds of the Fall season while nodding to the small-town traditions for which the burgeoning burg of Celina is best known.
Boasting an expanded footprint this year at Old Celina Park, it is the city’s largest annual community event.
Celina Park Fest 2017 will kick off with a performance by the Celina High School Choir, followed by high-energy sets throughout the day from a slate of prominent North Texas musicians including Crystal Yates, Chaz Marie, Dean & Vanzant and the Boxcar Bandits. Once the sun sets, country singer-songwriter Max Stalling will take the stage before a rockin’ concert by Red Dirt-music recording star Jason Boland & The Stragglers.
“The bands are excited to play at Park Fest this year,” said Melissa Cromwell, president of the Greater Celina Chamber of Commerce which produces the event that serves as a fundraiser for the organization. She encourages attendees to bring blankets and lawn chairs and sit near the stage, which will be adjacent to the popular Bud Light beer tent. “It’ll be a great place to put a picnic down and listen to some terrific music.”
Admission will be free to the new and improved Kids’ Zone, sponsored by the Martin Marietta company. It will occupy an entire ball field at Old Celina Park, where massive inflatables and bounce houses will be open to young jumpers free of charge. Costumed characters will be on hand to pose for photos children and their grownups. A climbing wall, petting zoo and human hamster ball attraction will also be featured in the space, along with a special hands-on activity area sponsored by Home Depot.
From meats to sweets, a delectable assortment of delicious foods and beverages will be available for purchase, including gourmet candy and caramel apples, funnel cakes, woodfired pizza and handcrafted old-fashioned sodas. A fixture at Celina Park Fest for the past decade, Conway Corndogs returns this year to serve its jumbo corndogs and thirst-quenching lemonade to hungry crowds.
Festivalgoers can also shop the wide array of innovative products and services that will be featured at Celina Park Fest 2017. Hailing from Aubrey, Texas, dessert-maker The Colonel’s Wife will offer a selection of it packaged, handmade cookies and breads. Check out the latest must-have colors and styles from beauty and fashion staples Lipsense, Mary Kay Cosmetics and LuLaRoe.
“This year’s Park Fest is going to be phenomenal. It’s going to be an exciting day for families to come out, celebrate and have some fun,” Cromwell said, thanking the City of Celina and the Centurion American real-estate development company for their sponsorship of the event.
