Giving is not about making a donation; it is about making a difference. Volunteering is not about giving time; it is about giving hope. Gratitude and generosity go hand-in-hand; you can’t have one without the other.
If you’re truly grateful for what you have, you’re eager to share with others. When others are generous with you, you’re grateful in return.
Spread love, gratitude, and generosity this holiday season by supporting these local charities. They support different causes, but they all support our communities.

Help By: Donating Money
Just last week, my 7-year-old posted a heartfelt video on Facebook asking friends and family for support so she could help provide food to her classmates. Those students that receive free or reduced lunches during school go without or with very little when they’re on winter break, and my daughter took her mission very seriously. She ended up raising just over $400 and received tons of food donations in order to feed 15 of her classmates! We had friends participate in the box packing, and they said it was a transformative experience. We’ll definitely be supporting this charity again! – Kristen Skiles

As a child, my family didn’t have much money. My father made next to nothing and with 4 kids, my mom couldn’t find a job that would make more than childcare costs. Even when she started her at home daycare to help other families in need, it was hard. I remember times when our family of 6 would sit down to a dinner consisting of a single box of macaroni and cheese. The CCA saved us. While my parents did everything they could to pay bills, the CCA helped ensure we at least wouldn’t go hungry. They provided free financial classes to my parents, and other helpful resources. I’ll always be grateful to the CCA and what they did for my family – especially me and my brothers. – Amanda Lewis

My son was diagnosed with bilateral clubfeet at 20 weeks pregnant. We were lucky to find out that we have one of the leading research and treatment facilities in the country for Clubfoot: Texas Scottish Rite in downtown Dallas. Many families travel far and wide to get fabulous care. He started treatment in October of 2016 after a brief stay in NICU. We have wonderful doctors and the whole hospital is so caring. The best part- we are a part of the research. My son wears a chip in his special boots to record his treatment. We receive care for free or minimal cost. As do all of the patients. As a family, we donate yearly because we are forever grateful that they fixed my son’s feet and will be able to play just like any other child! – Katie Weir
